Almost there
isn't on a team yet. Ask your business owner to add this email in Menu → Team, then tap Try again.
Name your business
Your current pins will be moved into it.
Team
Everyone listed can see and edit this business's pins. Owners can add and remove people.
Create another business
For someone running their own business. Their pins are completely separate: you won't see theirs and they won't see yours.
Guide: add someone
Follow these steps to give someone (a family member, a helper) access to your business's map. Only people on your team see your pins.
1. Add them to your team
Open Menu → Team.
Under Add someone, type their email. Use the email they'll actually sign in with.
Tick Owner only if they should also be able to add and remove people.
Tap Add to team.
Only owners can add people. If you don't see Add someone, ask your business owner to do this step.
2. Send them the link
Text or email it to them. Tell them to open it on their phone.
3. They create their account
Open the link and tap Create account (not Sign in).
Enter the same email you added, choose a password, type it again, and tap Create account.
Open the confirmation email (check spam), tap the link, then go back to the app and tap Continue.
4. Put it on their home screen
iPhone: open the link in Safari (not Chrome), sign in, tap the Share button (square with an up arrow), scroll down, then Add to Home Screen → Add.
Android: open the link in Chrome, sign in, tap the ⋮ menu, then Add to Home screen or Install app.
From then on they open it from the new icon. The first time, tap Allow when it asks for location.
If something goes wrong
"Isn't on a team yet": the email they signed up with doesn't match what you added. Check spelling in Team, remove and re-add if needed, then they tap Try again.
No confirmation email: check spam, then tap Resend email.
"That email already has an account": they should tap Back to sign in and sign in instead, or use Forgot password?.
Forgot password: tap Forgot password? on the sign-in screen.
"Already belongs to another business": each email can be on one business only. They'll need a different email.
Someone leaves: open Team and tap Remove next to them. They lose access right away.
Guide: app admin
Only you see this. As app admin you can create businesses. You can't see other businesses' pins, and they can't see yours.
Start a new business (e.g. for a relative)
Open Menu → Team and scroll to Create another business.
Enter the business name and the owner's email (the one they'll sign in with). Double-check the spelling.
Tap Create business.
Send the owner the app link: https://gondomar.github.io/salesmap/
Tell them to open it on their phone, tap Create account with that same email, choose a password, and confirm it from the email they get. (Same as steps 3 and 4 in Guide: add someone, which you can read to them.)
Once they're in, they add their own family or helpers from their Team screen, using Menu → Guide: add someone. You don't need to do anything else.
Your own team
Same as any owner: Menu → Team to add or remove people, and Guide: add someone for the steps to send them.
Rules to know
Each email belongs to one business only.
Every business needs at least one owner. Owners can't remove themselves.
Everyone must confirm their email before they can see any pins.
Fixing problems (done on a computer)
Typed an owner's email wrong: if they haven't used it yet, open Firestore (Data tab). Delete that business under orgs and the wrong email under members, then create the business again in the app.
Remove someone's login entirely: remove them from their Team first, then delete them in Authentication → Users (⋮ → Delete account).
Someone's locked out: they can use Forgot password? on the sign-in screen. You can see all accounts and whether they've signed in under Authentication → Users.
Everyone gets "permission denied" or "sync error": the security rules may have been changed. Copy the current rules into Firestore (Rules tab) and tap Publish.
Map won't load: check the Maps key and billing in Google Cloud → Credentials. The key must allow https://gondomar.github.io/*.
Costs
Firebase is on the free Spark plan and can't charge you. Google Maps has a card on file but a free monthly allowance; set or check a spending alert in Billing → Budgets & alerts. Every business uses your Maps allowance, so only create businesses for people you trust.
Where everything lives
App code & website:github.com/gondomar/salesmap. Changes pushed there go live in about a minute. Everyone gets them by closing and reopening the app.
